Quick Facts :: Growing Tips

Full and Afternoon Sun Xeric Resists Deer Western Only  Legend

Description:

18” x 12” wide, (seed propagated). (Note, botanists have changed this plant’s genus from Stipa to Nassella.) Silky Thread Grass is our most graceful native bunch grass. It gently sways in the breeze and its silky seed heads glow brightly when they catch the sunlight. Plant Nassella in any well drained soil. It is an excellent xeric companion plant and is particularly nice when planted with Agave, Agastache and gray Artemisia. Re-seeds itself readily.

Zones 5-10
