Description:
31/2-4’ x 24” wide, (seed propagated). A robust native, warm-season bunch grass enjoyed for its lacy seed heads that create a pink-hued haze above the foliage. Alkali Sacaton flowers for a many months, beginning in June. Deep rooted, this grass grows well in all soil types including sand, loam and clay as well as alkaline and salty soils. But avoid water-logged planting sites. On the prairie Sporobolus is used by animals for forage, cover and nesting. Its seeds are relished by birds.
