Scutellaria resinosa
Prairie Skullcap
Quick Facts :: Growing Tips
Legend
Description:
8” x 10-12” wide, (seed propagated). Prairie Skullcap grows in a neat mound of tight, upright stems and covers itself with stunning deep lavender-blue flowers in late spring. With a little extra water, Scutellaria will bloom off and on through the fall. It has an iron-clad constitution reflecting the rigors of its short grass prairie habitat and thrives in a variety of well-drained soils. Stunning planted with Hymenoxys scaposa. Best mulched with crushed gravel. To encourage re-seeding, don’t deadhead. Zones 4-8.
Special Notes:
Plant with Thrift-Leaf Perky Sue.
