Salvia pitcheri 'Grandiflora'
Pitcher’s Blue Sage
Quick Facts :: Growing Tips
Legend
Description:
4’ x 24” wide (cutting propagated). This is a large flowered selection of the prairie native Salvia pitcheri. A tall lanky grower, it waits to bloom in early fall with a pleasing show of deep blue flowers. Select a planting site with lots of sun in well drained soil; avoid wet clay. Like tall garden mums, pinching the plant back in June improves the plant’s shape and increases the floral display. A superb planting companion with Goldenrod. Zones 4-9.
Special Notes:
Plant near Helianthus maximiliana and Zauschneria! WOW!
