20” x 18-24” wide. Zones 6-10. Cutting propagated. This South African relative of North America’s Penstemon, is one of that country’s showiest perennials. This hybrid introduction is very compact and has cherry-red tubular flowers from mid-to-late summer It’s perfect in small yards and for flowering containers. ‘Cherry Ripe’ also has good cold hardiness; don’t cut it back in the fall and mulch heavily to protect the crown from extreme cold.
