Penstemon pinifolius 'Nearly Red'
Nearly Red Pineleaf Beardtongue
Quick Facts :: Growing Tips
Legend
Description:
18” x 12” wide, (cutting propagated). I was thrilled when I came across this distinctive form some years ago. With its long, graceful, nearly-red tubular flowers, it really stood out among its orange flowered neighbors. ‘Nearly Red’ also has nice evergreen, needle-like foliage. Shear off faded flower spikes to keep the plant’s tidy shape. Summer blooming, it’s a nice companion to hybrid French Lavender (x intermedia varieties) and yellow Coreopsis ‘Jethro Tull’. Easily grown in average garden soil.
Zones 4-9.
Special Notes:
Plant with French Lavender and Coreopsis ‘Jethro Tull’!
