Papaver x intermedium
Double Orange hybrid Oriental Poppy
Quick Facts
Legend
Description:
30” x 36+” wide, (seed/root cutting propagated). I have seen this incredible heirloom poppy species thriving in several small towns in the western US where it has survived for generations. Spreading vigorously by its roots to form large colonies, its late spring-early summer display of huge double orange flowers is spectacular. The plants go dormant in summer so plant it behind other tall, vigorous summer blooming perennials to hide their unsightly foliage as they go to sleep. Thanks to Colleen Crain for sending me seed she collected in Ketchum, ID. Zones 4-8.
