Papaver orientale 'Brilliant'
'Brilliant' Oriental Poppy
Quick Facts
Legend
Description:
32-36” x 24” wide, (seed propagated). This scarlet-orange flower has been made famous by New Mexico artist Georgia O’Keeffe’s beautiful paintings from the 1930s. And no wonder: spring in Santa Fe brings with it drifts of Oriental Poppies blooming all over town.
These poppies go dormant in summer, so mix them into the middle of perennial beds with other tall growing perennials to cover up the browning foliage.
Grows well in most soil types including clay.
Zones 3-7.
Special Notes:
Plant Aquilegia ‘Swallowtail’!
