Achnatherum hymenoides 'Nezpar'
Indian Rice Grass
Quick Facts :: Growing Tips
Legend
Description:
18” x 15” wide, (seed propagated). Indian Rice Grass is so named because of its use as a grain by native Americans. Its light, lacy seed heads appear in early summer and are valued both in the landscape and in dried bouquets. The variety ‘Nezpar’ is recommended for its cold hardiness and use in the intermountain West. The airy, light-catching seed spikes hold on the plant into fall. Avoid clay soils. Zones 3-10.
Special Notes:
This cool season grass goes dormant with the arrival of summer heat!
