Origanum 'Amethyst Falls'
Amethyst Falls Hybrid Oregano
Quick Facts
Legend
Description:
15”x 18” wide, (cutting propagated). Disbelief was my first reaction upon seeing this new oregano in full flower at the Bluebird Nursery display garden. Discovered by Bluebird Nursery owner and prairie plantsman Harlan Hamernik, this hybrid Origanum is nothing short of amazing with its huge sprays containing hundreds of pendulous chartreuse bracts and protruding bright-pink flowers.
Plant in a full sun location in very well-drained sandy or loam soil; placement in a raised bed or on the southwest side of a berm is recommended in wetter climates. Leave the stems and faded flowers on the plant over the winter to improve cold hardiness. Trim off in spring when new growth emerges from the crown of the plant.(not recommended for fall planting in zones 5-6) Zones 5-9
