Liatris ligulistylus
Meadow Blazingstar
Quick Facts
Legend
Description:
3’ x 15” wide, (seed propagated). This long grass prairie native is a larger and showier species than Liatris punctata (native to more arid western grasslands). A robust grower at its best in fertile loam with infrequent but deep soakings once established. Liatris ligulistylus is an excellent butterfly beacon that brightens the late summer/early fall garden with its lavender-purple flower spikes. Two year old plants grown in premium 5” deep pots. Zone 4-8.
Special Notes:
This outstanding wildflower makes a colorful companion for the many small- to mid-sized grasses like ‘Blaze’ Little Bluestem and ‘Prairie Sky’ Switch Grass!
