Ipomea leptophylla
Bush Morning Glory
Quick Facts :: Growing Tips
Legend
Description:
3’ x 3-5’ wide, (seed propagated). A most unusual native perennial, Bush Morning Glory is found in scattered locations across the western Great Plains. Also known as “manroot,” this non-vining morning glory is very long lived and eventually grows a huge, nearly leg-sized tuberous root! It blooms during the hottest part of summer with huge bright pink funnel-shaped flowers. A tap-rooted perennial, it resents any root disturbance so plant it carefully into sandy or rocky soils. Ipomea is very late to wake up in the spring and may be shipped dormant. Grown in 5” premium pot. Zones 4-8.
