Gladiolus oppositiflorus v. salmoneus
Wildflower Salmon Gladiolus
Quick Facts
Legend
Description:
3’ x 8-12” wide, (seed propagated). Over the past ten years High Country Gardens has been working diligently to introduce cold hardy ornamental perennials from the high altitude areas of South Africa to this country. The Salmon Gladiolus should prove to be among the best of these high-altitude South African wildflowers with its richly colored blooms, graceful flowering spikes, statuesque foliage and excellent cold hardiness.
Different from the very popular cold-tender domesticated Gladiolus, this unique wildflower species retains the spirit and beauty of its high mountain home. Mulch heavily for winter in zones 5 & 6 the first couple of years to protect the bulbs from extreme cold. Mark their planting spot as the bulbs will be late to wake up after a cold spring growing season. Three year old blooming plants in 5″Grown in 5” deep pot. Zones 5-9
