Description:

3” x 4” wide, (seed propagated). Collection #SB 388. This robust form of Spiny Star is from Kimble Co., TX on the Edwards Plateau approximately 90 miles northeast of San Antonio, TX. The plants have dense, variably colored spines ranging from strongly reddish-brown to mostly white. The plant blooms in late spring with huge magenta flowers. To date the plants have not clustered so they may remain as a solitary stem. These are large 4 year old plants that are of blooming size. Zones 5-9.
