Epithelantha micromeris SB1894

Little Chiles

Quick Facts

Full and Afternoon Sun Xeric Western Only  Legend

Description:

2” x 2-3” Wide. (Seed Propagated.) This species has adapted to its harsh desert environments differently than most cacti. Instead of shape spines, the stem is covered with tiny spines that look and feel like white fur. The equally tiny light salmon colored flowers appear at the top of the stem in mid-spring and produce a profusion of small, upright, persistent bright red fruits that resemble little red chiles. Seed for this fantastic collection was originally made on high peak tops of the Sierra Madre Mountains in Coahuila. Three year old blooming sized plants. E. micromeris requires excellent drainage and very dry bright sun winter conditions when grown in outdoor beds. It also makes an excellent potted plant for windowsill culture.

Zones 7b -9.
