Description:

24” x 18” wide, (seed propagated). This high mountain beauty from central Colorado explodes into bloom with hundreds of bright red flowers on loose airy stems. Perfect for planting under aspen. A five star recommendation for all mountain gardeners. Needs a cool shady bed with regular watering at lower altitudes. Campanulas also make stunning planting companions for this species. Zones 3-8.

GROWING TIPS

These plants grow best in enriched soils that are well drained, avoid heavy, slow draining clay soils. Columbine likes evenly moist soil. Overhead irrigation in late afternoon and evening hours may encourage powdery mildew.
