Allium 'Millennium'
Millennium Ornamental Onion
Quick Facts
Legend
Description:
15” x 18-22” wide. I’m a big fan of ‘Millennium’ because of its vigorous growth habit, handsome, glossy, dark green strap-like foliage and huge display of 2.5" diameter, bright rose-pink flowered globes. (Mature plants can have 40-60 globes at one time!) Blooming in late July through August, it brings a welcome burst of color to the late days of summer. For vegetable gardeners, plant ‘Millenium’ in your garden to attract lots of bees when many summer/fall ripening vegetables need pollination.
This plant grows easily in most any soil, but seems to have a fondness for clay. Hybridized by Allium guru Mark McDonough.
Zones 5-9.
