Agave Parryi (Camp Verde collection)
Camp Verde Century Plant
Quick Facts :: Growing Tips
Legend
Description:
18” x 24-30” wide, (seed propagated). A stunning non-suckering selection of Parry’s Century Plant, the seed for our crop was collected from a population of plants living on the high plateau (6,400’ elevation) east of Camp Verde in Yavapai Co., AZ. Here, these huge silver-gray plants are growing in meadows of blue Grama grass with scattered Ponderosa pinea and huge Aligator Juniper. Plants from this population are probably only slightly less cold hardy than Agave parryi (Flagstaff collection). Plant in a lean, well-drained soil where it will get plenty of sun and heat. In time, the plant will bloom with a towering 12’ tall, flowering candelabra that will attract hummingbirds from miles around.
Zones 5-10.

GROWING TIPS
|
In the Mid-west and eastern US, these cold hardy Agave are best grown in large pots so they can be moved to an unheated porch or sun room to keep them dry over the winter.
