New Mexico Botanic Gardens

Santa Fe Botanical Garden

The Leonora Curtin Wetland Preserve is a 35-acre preserve adjacent to El Rancho de las Golondrinas in La Cienega, about 10 miles south of Santa Fe. The marshy area is being restored to its pre-settlement condition.

Rio Grande Botanic Garden

Located by the Rio Grande and the largest cottonwood forest in the world, this garden is an oasis in the desert. It currently encompasses 36 developed acres, including a 10,000 square foot glass conservatory, housing native and exotic plants from desert and Mediterranean climate zones. The seasonal PNM Butterfly Pavilion features hundreds of free-flying North American butterflies and moths. Walking distance through the aquarium and garden is 1.6 miles.

The University of New Mexico Arboretum

This arboretum extending throughout the University of New Mexico campus and contains 320 species of woody plants.

Albuquerque Rose Garden

This garden of the Albuquerque Rose Society holds a collection of 1203 bushes representing 493 cultivars and 26 classes of roses. It is organized into separate areas for hybrid teas, old garden roses and floribundas, hybrid rugosas, polyanthas and miniatures, hybrid musks, newer ground cover roses, and climbing and rambling roses.

Aurora Water Xeriscape Garden

There are 14 different gardens on 3.4 acres and contains over 350 varieties of perennials, shrubs and trees. Also there are 9 varieties of turf.

Denver Botanic Gardens

On 23 acres this garden hosts 32,000 plants from such far-away places as Australia, Africa and the Himalayas. An additional site in Littleton is a 750-acre wildlife and native plant refuge.

Colorado Springs Utilities Xeriscape Demonstration Garden

Officially established in 1991, the 1.74 acre Xeriscape Demonstration Garden has more than 600 species of trees, shrubs and perennials, many of which are native to Colorado and west. A wide array of garden styles and designs are represented including mixed perennial beds, four different turf areas, turf alternatives, grassy meadows, a foothills garden, four rock gardens, and herb garden, a lilac garden and a solar-powered water garden.

Fort Collins Xeriscape Demonstration Garden

The garden covers a .3 acre area and is designed with three water use zones: very low, low and moderate. Over 100 species of plants includes 30 trees, 150 shrubs, and 3,000 perennials and groundcovers.

Red Butte Botanical Garden

Red Butte Garden, a part of the University of Utah, is a non-profit organization located in Salt Lake City, Utah. With over 100 acres including display and natural gardens, walking paths and natural areas with hiking trails, Red Butte Garden is the largest botanical and ecological center in the Intermountain West that tests, displays, and interprets regional horticulture.

Oregon Botanical Gardens

Mount Pisgah Arboretum

Mount Pisgah Arboretum is a 209-acre living tree museum. Its riverside trails, quiet paths through evergreen forests, water garden teeming with life, bright wildflower meadows, and open views across oak savannas delight all ages. Located within Lane County's Howard Buford Recreation Area, the Arboretum lies between the Coast Fork of the Willamette River and the slopes of Mount Pisgah.

California Botanical Gardens

San Francisco Botanical Garden

A mild Mediterranean climate provides the San Francisco Botanical Garden the right conditions to grow and conserve plants from all over the world, including plants that are no longer found in their native habitats. There are 55 acres of sanctuary - landscaped gardens and open spaces - and over 7500 varieties of plants from around the world!
